Formerly run as the Dunlop RT2000s, these spectacular spaceframe saloons have been a popular part of Irish Motor Racing for almost 20 years. Revived in recent years by Alan Kessie’s ASK Racing concern, the class now has two sub classes. One caters for the older Zetec engines, with a H pattern gearbox (ideal for newcomers) whilst the other class is for the newer, more powerful Duratec engines and a sequential gearbox.
With the newer motor producing somewhere in the region of 270bhp, these fibreglass bodied machines don’t hang around. There has been plenty of interest in the class ahead of the 2021 season, with a number of very welcome Northern Ireland competitors set to join the fray. Expect plenty of action.
Cars are always available for rental or purchase, so if you are interested contact class coordinator Gary Corcoron, who has helped many drivers to get onto the grid.
